Bellingham has the region’s grand old room in the Mount Baker Theatre, a 1927 vaudeville house still running touring music, comedy and theatre, alongside smaller venues around town. It is about twenty-five minutes north — and the Pacific Showroom here at the resort has its own line-up if you would rather not drive.
Bellingham, about twenty-five minutes north, carries most of the region’s museums and galleries — the Whatcom Museum spread across the modern Lightcatcher building and the old red-brick City Hall, plus a working gallery scene downtown. Closer to the resort, La Conner and Mount Vernon have smaller museums covering the valley’s farming and logging past.
